Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CrewPlanet collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the CrewPlanet mobile app and the crewplanet.app website (together, the "Service"). Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.
Who we are
CrewPlanet is a trade name of Knowhayo, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) established in the Netherlands, with its registered address at Trompstraat 14, 1271 TA Huizen, the Netherlands (KvK 72418893). Knowhayo, trading as CrewPlanet, is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at info@crewplanet.app.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you create an account and use the app, you provide:
- Account details — your name and email address.
- Profile information — username, profile picture, and crew details such as your airline, role, and home base.
- Airline verification — when you verify as crew, the work email address you submit, used to confirm your airline affiliation.
- Content you create — tips, events, messages, connections, and the photos or media you upload.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we automatically collect:
- Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, features used, and interactions.
- Log data — IP address, timestamps, and similar technical information recorded to deliver the Service securely and prevent abuse.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address; precise location is only collected from the app with your permission (see below).
Location data (app)
If you grant permission, the app uses your device location to show nearby crew, places, and relevant local content. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings; some features may then be limited.
Website analytics & cookies
The crewplanet.app website has no sign-up or login. Only if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect pages viewed, time on page, approximate (city-level) location from a truncated IP address, device and browser type, and the referring source; IP addresses are anonymised. We do not set analytics cookies until you accept them via the cookie banner. For details of each cookie and how to change your choice, see our Cookie Policy. Our host, Google Firebase Hosting, also records standard server request logs to serve the site securely.
How we use your information
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, and create and manage your account.
- Enable you to share tips, deals, and events, and to connect and chat with other crew.
- Verify airline affiliation and keep the community authentic and safe.
- Send notifications about relevant activity and updates.
- Improve and personalise your experience and analyse usage patterns.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
Legal basis (GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Service and manage your account.
- Consent — for analytics cookies, precise location, and other optional features. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve it.
- Legal obligation — where we are required by law to process certain data.
How we share your information
We use the following processors and partners, who act on our instructions or under their own policies:
- Other users — your profile, tips, deals, events, and similar content are visible to other users of the Service.
- Google — Firebase (authentication, database, storage, hosting), Google Maps (location features), Google Sign-In (authentication), and Google Analytics 4 (website analytics). See the Firebase and Google privacy policies.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, where you choose it, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Legal requirements — where required by law or to protect our rights, users, and safety.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must keep it to comply with the law. Google Analytics data is retained according to our configured retention period (by default up to 14 months); server logs are kept for a short period for security and diagnostics.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can delete your account at any time from the app's profile settings. To exercise any of these rights, email info@crewplanet.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and authentication, and secure cloud storage through Firebase. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
CrewPlanet is intended for aviation professionals and is not directed at, or intended for use by, children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version, and significant changes will be communicated through the Service.
